My first thought here is the difference between being poured out and leaking out.
One indicates an intentional act the other may even indicate something that goes unnoticed for a while. Then there is the idea of the act of pouring happens through the open meant for suction action and the other for me creates an image of something cracked.

Just to answer the question at its face value; I have to reply yes. Yes the cup can be fixed. First off I don’t know of a replacement policy, or of the ability to trade up, although in my mind I am thinking that the well worn from much use cup should be of more value that the slightly used one next to it on the shelf.

There is one of those stories that gets passed around in email something about a boy hauling water in a leaky bucket. And while his intention was to fill a container at home, the unintentional result of many trips back and forth with the leaky bucket was a pathway that bloomed with flowers from what leaked. Unintentional watering.

So I guess on this question I do as the Grandkids do and instead of an answer I ask another question. Should a cup that leaks be fixed?

Fortunately our creator who made all things, can fix all things.

The greater question then is "Is it in His will to fix it?"

Lately, I am more aware of how fallible I am, and how perfect God is.

What happens if I attempt to fix something that He does not wat fixed? Well, my efforts will surely fail, but do I create more problems in the process?

"One-Sided's' comment is most appropriate. What are the unintended consequences of any of our actions?

As one sided stated, I too, think of being poured out or leaking. If you are busy being poured out and then you discover that there is a leak, does it mean it is necessary to fix it? Just like the little boy in the e-mail...there was a nice result from the unintentional watering. God does not make mistakes and it is possible that He can do more than one thing at a time, and in more than one way. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is how He accomplishs His work. None of us is perfect...except Christ. He knows that and uses us anyway.

I remember the movie Patch Adams. I loved that movie. But in it, "Patch" (Robin Williams)helps an old man stop his styrofoam cup from leaking by putting a piece of tape over the hole.
And in thinking about it just now, I realized that the cup wasn't fixed - only the leak was fixed.
And I wondered, not to displace the healing that Christ has miraculously done in my heart concerning some things, if maybe God doesn't leave some scars, some leaky holes, for others to see. That He might put His own special tape over the puncture so we're no longer "messy", but unique, flawed little cups each of us, leaning heavily on the hope that God holds us together
